The Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority (RSLSA), under the patronage of the Hon'ble Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, launched a statewide campaign titled "Transformative Tuesdays: Navigating Life Legally". The initiative aims to integrate legal literacy into the daily lives of students from Class 8 to Class 12 across every government and private school in Rajasthan.

The idea behind Transformative Tuesdays

Every Tuesday, schools across Rajasthan dedicate time to a specific legal-awareness theme. The goal is simple: by the time a student leaves Class 12, they should have a working knowledge of the rights, duties and laws that shape daily life — not as abstract textbook material, but as practical citizenship skills.

At a glance

  • Who: Students of Class 8 to Class 12
  • When: Every Tuesday during the academic session
  • What: A theme-based legal awareness session, run by the प्रभारी शिक्षक (Teacher-in-Charge) of the Legal Literacy Club
  • Why: Build constitutional values, responsible citizenship and informed decision-making

Themes covered

RSLSA has identified a rolling set of themes that every LLC is expected to address during the year:

  • Cyber crime and cyber security — staying safe online, recognising fraud
  • Child protection against cybercrimes — grooming, cyber-bullying, safe reporting
  • Women empowerment — gender equality, workplace rights, protection laws
  • Child marriage prevention — the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006
  • Transgender rights — the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019
  • Labour rights — child labour prohibition, minimum wage, workplace safety
  • Rights, duties and responsible citizenship — the civic foundations

How our LLC participates

At GSSS Jethantri, the Legal Literacy Club प्रभारी शिक्षक (Teacher-in-Charge) schedules a 15–20 minute slot every Tuesday where a student volunteer or a guest speaker from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Balotra, introduces the week's theme with:

  1. A short real-world case study or news item
  2. The relevant constitutional article or statute
  3. An open Q&A with the audience
  4. A pledge or poster activity for students to take home
"Law should not be a stranger who knocks only when something goes wrong. It should be a friend students recognise from their school days."

Why it matters

India is home to over 250 million school-going children. When even a fraction of them grow up knowing their rights, the multiplier effect on justice, equity and rule-of-law is enormous. Transformative Tuesdays is an ambitious step towards that future — and every school, including ours, plays a part.
